China proposes stricter car design, testing rules, including ban on fully hidden door handles

The country’s industry ministry said the proposed regulations aim to address safety and environmental risks arising from new car models launched without adequate testing. The draft rules also require automakers to submit more technical details on innovative designs and research and development testing from January 1, 2027.
