Autos hub Thailand approves steep tax hikes on imported EVs

Thailand’s cabinet has approved an increase in excise taxes on fully imported electric vehicles to 35 percent. This tax hike will come into effect starting January next year to encourage local production. The government aims to support the auto industry amidst competition from cheaper imports.
